FC 27 Streamlined SBCs Explained – New SBC System

Jamo - EasySBC Content Creator · 14 Sept 2026

SBCs are getting one of their biggest changes in years with the introduction of Streamlined SBCs in FC 27.

Instead of building a full squad around Chemistry, positions and squad rating, you'll select eligible items from your Club and use their Item Score to work towards a target.

You'll also be able to submit duplicates and make partial progress, meaning you don't have to complete the entire requirement at once.

It sounds like a pretty big change to the SBC system we're all used to, but the idea behind it is actually quite simple.

Here's everything you need to know about how Streamlined SBCs work in FC 27.

What Are Streamlined SBCs in FC 27?

Streamlined SBCs are a new way of completing Squad Building Challenges in FC 27.

With a Traditional SBC, you're normally given a set of requirements and have to build a full squad that meets them.

That could mean balancing things like squad rating, Chemistry, positions or other specific requirements before you're allowed to submit the team.

Streamlined SBCs remove the need to build that full XI.

Instead, you'll see eligible items from your Club and choose which ones you want to submit. Each item contributes towards a required Item Score, and your progress increases until you reach the target and can claim the reward.

I think that's probably the easiest way to understand why EA has made the change.

Building a squad around different requirements makes sense when the SBC itself is supposed to be a puzzle. But when you're completing multiple squads just to unlock a player or an upgrade pack, most people are trying to get to the reward as quickly as possible.

That's where Streamlined SBCs come in.

How Do Streamlined SBCs Work?

The biggest change is that you'll need to stop thinking purely about squad rating and start thinking about Item Score.

Instead of something like:

Submit an 86-rated squad

you'll be working towards a target Item Score.

Eligible items in your Club each contribute their own score. You select the cards you're willing to submit, their scores are added to your progress, and you continue until you've reached the requirement.

Depending on the SBC, EA says it will be possible to reach the required score using:

More lower-rated items

Fewer higher-rated items

or

A mixture of both

You also won't necessarily have to complete the whole thing at once, which we'll get onto shortly.

How streamlined SBCs work

What Is Item Score in FC 27?

Item Score is going to be one of the biggest new things to understand.

EA has confirmed that each item receives a score based on its overall rating and rarity.

It's also not a system created exclusively for SBCs. The same Item Score system is used within the new FUT Gallery.

The higher the combined score of the eligible items you submit, the more progress you make towards completing the Streamlined SBC.

One thing we don't know yet is the exact scoring formula. EA has confirmed that Item Score is based on a card's overall rating and rarity, but hasn't revealed exactly how much score each rating or rarity will contribute. That's something we'll be able to properly analyse once FC 27 launches.

Can You Submit Duplicates in Streamlined SBCs?

Yes.

This could be one of the best changes to SBCs in FC 27.

EA has confirmed that you'll be able to submit multiple versions of the same item, including duplicates, towards the required score.

So if you're opening packs and keep getting the same eligible player, those duplicate cards can contribute towards your Streamlined SBC progress.

Anyone who's spent far too long staring at a duplicate player while trying to work out where to put them will probably appreciate this one.

Combined with another new feature (partial submissions) managing duplicate fodder should become considerably easier.

Can You Partially Complete Streamlined SBCs?

Another major change is partial progress.

You won't need to complete the entire Streamlined SBC requirement in one go.

Instead, you can submit some eligible items, make progress towards the target and then come back later to finish it.

For example, imagine a Streamlined SBC requires a certain total Item Score.

You might not have enough fodder to reach that score immediately.

Rather than waiting until you've got everything you need, you could submit some eligible cards now, save that progress and then continue adding more items later.

That's very different from the Traditional SBC system we're used to, where an individual squad generally needs to meet all of its requirements before you can submit it.

For players who open a lot of packs, I can see this being particularly useful.

Instead of constantly trying to find somewhere for duplicate fodder to go, you could potentially keep putting eligible duplicates towards an SBC you're already working on.

Do Streamlined SBCs Have Minimum Rating Requirements?

They can.

Moving away from squad overall rating doesn't mean you'll automatically be able to throw absolutely any card into every Streamlined SBC.

EA gives the example of a potential Player of the Month Streamlined SBC.

That SBC could require a total Item Score while also requiring every submitted item to be rated 75 or higher.

Other Streamlined SBCs could have no minimum OVR requirement at all, meaning the only target you need to worry about is the total Item Score.

This is where the new system could create some interesting decisions.

If there's no minimum rating, you could potentially use loads of lower-rated cards to reach the target.

If there is a minimum OVR, your options immediately become more limited.

Exactly which approach is cheapest will depend on the individual SBC and the FC 27 Transfer Market.

Streamlined SBCs vs Traditional SBCs

FC 27 Streamlined SBCs vs Traditional SBCs

Despite the changes, Streamlined and Traditional SBCs will both exist in FC 27.

The easiest way to separate them is by what you're actually trying to solve.

Traditional SBCs

Traditional SBCs are based around building a squad that meets specific requirements.

That can involve things like Chemistry, positions, ratings and other restrictions.

The challenge is finding a valid combination of players that satisfies everything.

Streamlined SBCs

Streamlined SBCs are more focused on which items you're willing to exchange.

Instead of constructing a full XI, you're selecting eligible items and building towards a target Item Score.

You can also make partial progress and use multiple versions of the same item, including duplicates.

Are Traditional SBCs Being Removed in FC 27?

No.

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions to clear up.

Traditional SBCs aren't disappearing from FC 27.

EA currently plans to use the new Streamlined format for the majority of Player and Upgrade SBCs.

Traditional SBCs will continue to be supported for more puzzle-like Challenge SBCs.

EA has also said it will adjust how the two formats are used based on player feedback throughout FC 27.

So this isn't a complete replacement for the SBC system we've had for years.

Instead, we'll have two different formats being used depending on the type of challenge.

Streamlined SBC Solutions on EasySBC

Streamlined SBCs will also change how we find the cheapest way to complete an SBC.

With Traditional SBCs, we're normally looking for the cheapest squad that meets the rating, Chemistry and any other requirements. With Streamlined SBCs, the aim will instead be to find the most cost-effective combination of items to reach the required Item Score.

From day one of FC 27, you'll be able to find solutions for Streamlined SBCs on EasySBC.

Our Streamlined SBC Solver will help you find efficient combinations of items to reach the required score, rather than having to work out which cards to submit yourself.

We're already building support for the new system ahead of launch. The screenshots below show our current Streamlined SBC interface in development using test SBCs and data, rather than the official SBCs EA will release.

Once FC 27 is live, we'll be able to use the real SBC requirements, Item Scores and Transfer Market prices to help find the best-value solutions.
